Born in Istanbul on May 4th, 1985, Canan Dağdeviren graduated from Hacettepe University, Physics Engineering Department in June 2007. She completed PhD in Sabancı University, Materials Science and Engineering in June 2007; and the same year she won Fulbright Doctorate scholarship and started doctorate at Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana, Champaign (UIUC). Under the consultancy of Prof. John A. Rogers, Dağdeviren worked on flexible and foldable electronic tools that can be fused / worn inside the body and over the skin. Following the doctorate, in 2014 – 2016, she worked with Prof. Robert Langer, an engineer that has been referenced the most in history at MIT. Dr. Dağdeviren has been awarded with Junior Fellow of Harvard at Harvard University in 2014. Being the first person to win this award from Turkey in history, Dr. Dağdeviren obtained the highest score given by Senior Fellows. Canan Dağdeviren is the owner of 30 articles, 6 patents and over 40 national and international awards. Among the recent awards she has been granted are Science & SciLifeLab Award which is regarded as the Nobel of young people in medicine and an award from Stockholm, Sweden; moreover, she was invited to the Nobel Prize Ceremony. Currently, she works as an academician in her own research group at MIT Media Lab.
