Aykut Tarakçıoğlu was born in Izmir in 1971. After graduating from Bornova Anatolian High School, he graduated from Ege University, Faculty of Textile Engineering in 1993. After his university education, he started his professional career as a representative of an international trading company. Aykut Tarakçıoğlu worked in New York until 2000 and established his own companies during this period: Tekstar USA LLC, Tekstilci Tekstil San. Tic. AŞ. and Tekstar Tekstil San. Tic. AŞ.
Tarakçıoğlu holds a master's degree in fashion design and published her book “Clothing Research in the Ottoman Palace” with her thesis advisor Prof. Dr. Hülya Tezcan.
He is also a lecturer at several universities and an active member of the Turkish Clothing Manufacturers Association, ITKIB (Istanbul Textile and Apparel Exporters' Association), TMMOB (Union of Chambers of Textile Engineers and Architects), DEIK (Foreign Economic Relations Board), Bornova Anatolian High School Alumni Association, Ege University Alumni Association and Galatasaray Club Congress.
He is also proud to be the father of 17-year-old Kaan Tarakçıoğlu.
